About Walk4Water

The Third Annual Walk4Water is to benefit Santa Cruz al Salvador in its work with the community of El Pilar to protect the cleanliness of their water. First year Walk4Water raised more than $10,000 to bring clean water to this rural community in El Salvador. Listening with partners in this community, we learned the next step towards clean water was to help them build composting toilets.   According to, 40% of the people in the world do not have access to toilets, this includes the 81 families of the El Pilar region of the Department of La Libertad in El Salvador. Last year we built 20 of the 81 needed toilets. Our goal for 2017’s Walk4Water is to raise $16,800 to build 30 more composting toilets for these families and train the people in their use and maintenance.

Did you know?

The use of composting toilets can save countless lives in developing countries.

More people die from poor sanitation than from the measles, malaria and HIV/AIDS combined.

As many as 7,500 people die daily due to waterborne illnesses and 5000 of those are children under the age of five.
