FAITH IN ACTION

SERVING THE CHURCH THROUGH COMMITTEE

ENRICHMENT-Worship and Education are two vital areas of a congregation and the responsibility of the Enrichment Committee. Worship includes planning special worships services, creating themes for worship, changing Paraments, flowers, special music, Liturgical celebration, and Education for morning Sunday morning services.

NURTURE Committee is responsible for providing fellowship opportunities to the congregation that nurture our bond as Christians. They sponsor events throughout the year to achieve this goal. The committee members will bring their energy and new ideas to the group as we try to expand and refine the events that are offered.

OPERATIONS Committee gets you involved in the oversight of the physical building and grounds and the financial oversight.

STEWARDSHIP Committee

Education

We have three major ways to deepen your faith at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Aptos:

  1. Sunday Morning Adult Education 9:00 in Hubler Hall Group of 15-20 people join the discussion.

Explores a wide range of topics including Bible study, topics of the day, deep theological concerns like heresies and interfaith discussions. She often shares in a book study as well.

  1. Pastor Anne teaches a monthly Bible study focusing on a specific book of the Bible.

We enjoy a year of study deepening our understanding of one author and book in Scripture. We meet at 1:00 on the 4th Monday of the month in Thomas Lounge. Currently we are looking at Paul and his writings to the church in Corinth. We are digging into Paul, his writings and his shaping of Scripture.

THE ABOVE 2 CLASSES FOLLOW THE SCHOOL YEAR CALENDAR – please check our Upcoming Events Calendar

  1. Seasonal Studies

During Advent (the season leading up to Christmas) and Lent (the 40 days before Easter) we often dedicate more space to reflect on our faith and what Christ is doing in our lives as we dwell in these sacred seasons.

SUNDAY MORNING

Infant and Toddler Care During Worship

During Sunday school infant and toddler care are provided as the service begins. You can drop your younger children off in the nursery or bring them into church and have them with you until the pastor finishes the children’s sharing during worship. Children are welcome to stay in the sanctuary during worship. Our congregation is always happy to have children in their midst!

Toddlers Through High School Groups

When children are excused from worship they break into three groups. There is nursery for children under 5. The next class is for children in kindergarten through 5th grades. The last class is for kids in 6th-8th grades. High school kids are welcome to join the 6th-8th grades class or remain in the main service. Once a month we have a pancake breakfast for kids in 5th grade and up. This is typically a fun Sunday to get involved if you are new to the church!

Hands-On Teaching

We enjoy using a hands-on approach to teaching. We create little plays (most of the time they are a bit silly), art projects, and science experiments. Like our youth program our Sunday school program also strives to create an environment of acceptance and close relationships while having fun.

Choir

The St. Andrew Presbyterian Church choir has always been an inspirational part of the St. Andrew worship experience. This group of dedicated volunteers rehearses every Thursday night and sings at every Sunday service except during the summer. The choir presents music in a wide variety of styles that is chosen to enhance the message being presented each Sunday.

Anyone who wishes to participate in the choir is welcome. If you love to sing in choir and are looking for a church home, St. Andrew Presbyterian can offer you not only a place to sing, but an opportunity to become a part of an active and supportive church family.

Our Gardening Group

St. Andrew Presbyterian Church is located in a serene and beautiful setting.  A dedicated group of people enjoy gardening and filling our church home with more natural beauty.  Master gardeners join with beginners to creative lovely gardens and peaceful settings.

Of course half the fun is sharing a cup of coffee after turning the soil or planted something new.  Gardening is a great way to meet new people and enjoy the great outdoors.  You are invited to join them on Wednesday mornings.

If you’re interested and want more detailed information on how to join in our gardening activities, please get in touch with our office (email and phone are at the top of this page).
